1st day: BERGAMO AND MOSCATO DI SCANZO
Pickup of your Vespa and departure for the discovery of Bergamo and its wine-growing zone. In the morning free visit of Città Alta (old town): surrounded by its walls, perched on a hill, it has retained its centuries-old Medieval and Renaissance appearance, represented by piazza Vecchia and piazza del Duomo. And if Palazzo della Ragione and Santa Maria Maggiore date back to the period of the medieval communes, an absolute masterpiece such as the Colleoni Chapel, built to host the mausoleum of the leader and his daughter, brings visitors back to the Renaissance age. On one side of Piazza Vecchia you will find Palazzo della Ragione and palazzo del Podestà to the left, a symbol of Venetian power over the city, built in the 14th century yet frescoed by Bramante in 1477 (the remains of these paintings are now housed in the Sala delle Capriate hall of Palazzo della Ragione). Lunch in an agritourism in Moscato zone. In the afternoon guided visit with tasting of wine in a Moscato Cellar. It is the most exclusive wine D.O.C.G. (Controlled and Guaranteed Denomination of Origin) in Italy: its grape variety is harvested within a 31 hectares-wide territory! Rare and precious, you really must try it! The Municipality of Scanzorosciate is the only place where the Moscato di Scanzo is produced, a Muscat wine made using dark-skinned grape variety. Its taste is inebriating, soft, smooth and full-bodied. You can immediately spot it by its warm ruby red colour with purple shades. Dinner free and overnight in hotel.
2nd day: ISEO LAKE WITH SEBINO OIL DOP AND FRANCIACORTA WINE
Breakfast in hotel. Morning dedicated of the free visit of Iseo Lake and Monteisola, the largest lake island in Europe. Lunch in restaurant based on fish menu. In the afternoon guided visit of the milling with oil and Franciacorta wine tasting. Olive green dots the entire landscape around the shore of Lake Iseo. One after the other, we find olive groves of various dimensions which benefit from this particular micro-climate and from the area’s moronic soil. Marone, known as “Città dell’olio” or “Oil town” and Monte Isola are the main attractions when looking for the prestigious Lake Iseo DOP extra-virgin olive oil, safeguarded by the consortium “Consorzio Olio Dop dei Laghi Lombardi”. The Dop extra-virgin olive oil from the Lake Iseo area is to be recognized by its greenish-yellow colour and it has a medium-light fruity smell and fruity taste with a lightly bitter, sharp aftertaste.
